Kenneith Perrin: A Soulful Entertainer Bridging Generations Through Music

| ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS |

Kenneith Perrin is an artist whose music is rooted in one simple purpose: to inspire, entertain, and connect with people. A singer, songwriter, producer, and dynamic live performer, Perrin has spent decades developing a sound shaped by gospel, soul, R&B, pop, jazz, and classic American music. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, and now based in Los Angeles, California, he has built a career that reaches well beyond the recording studio.

Perrin’s relationship with music began remarkably early. At just seven years old, he performed before a congregation at his church in South Carolina, gaining his first meaningful experience in front of a live audience. Music was already part of his family environment. His father played bass and electric guitar, while his mother played piano by ear, giving Perrin an early foundation in musicianship.

As his musical identity developed, he absorbed influences from several generations of performers. Artists such as Sister Sledge, Cheryl Lynn, Chic, Earth, Wind & Fire, Lou Rawls, and Stevie Wonder helped shape his appreciation for soul, funk, and R&B. During his teenage years, his curiosity expanded toward new wave, pop-glam, jazz-pop, and dance music, with acts including Missing Persons, The Bangles, Steely Dan, and Exposé adding new dimensions to his musical vocabulary.

His formal musical development continued at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he studied classically trained voice and participated in small choral ensembles. His evolving taste later embraced artists including Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, The Ting Tings, and Charlie Puth, before bringing him back to his gospel and contemporary Christian roots through artists such as the Clark Sisters, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Shirley Caesar, DC Talk, and Larnelle Harris.

That broad musical education is reflected in Perrin’s work today. Rather than being confined to a single genre, he draws from multiple eras and styles to create music that feels both familiar and contemporary.

His latest single, “Giving You All,” is a clear example of that approach. The track combines the romantic crooner atmosphere of 1950s vocal groups with the groove and energy associated with 1980s R&B. Perrin drew inspiration from groups such as The Platters, The Ink Spots, and The Flamingos for the song’s vintage character, while the rhythmic foundation reflects the influence of Curtis Blow and Shalamar.

For Perrin, the song represents one of his most rewarding creative accomplishments.

“Giving You All is by far one of my favorite songs I have written, recorded, and performed to date,” he says. “I love the simplicity of it while enjoying the slightly complex vocal harmonies.”

Perrin produced the single alongside Gal Bushy, while the arrangement was created by Perrin, Bushy, and Stephen Migliore. The track has already generated more than 6,300 streams and has been receiving regular rotation across more than 40 radio stations, demonstrating growing interest in Perrin’s latest work.

Beyond the studio, however, live performance remains central to his career. A three-time ASCAP Plus Awards winner, Perrin has performed internationally in countries and regions including the Czech Republic, the Bahamas, Germany, Austria, South Dakota, Oregon, and Oklahoma. His stage experience has also included opening performances for artists and acts such as The Bus Boys, The Untouchables, Bow Wow Wow, and Larry Dunn, the original drummer of Earth, Wind & Fire.

Perrin is currently taking that experience on the road with his self-produced Melodic Heart & Soul Tour, which is scheduled to continue into 2027. The current touring schedule focuses primarily on the East Coast, Southeast, and Midwest, bringing his music directly to audiences across the United States.

For Perrin, the concert experience is more than simply another way to present his songs. It is the heart of what he does.

“Whether it’s performing with my full band; trio; or to a backing track, I always enjoy connecting with the audience on many levels,” he explains. “It’s a genuine way of affirming why I do what I love to do.”

That philosophy helps explain the longevity of Perrin’s career. His music may draw inspiration from different generations, but his focus remains firmly on the present moment: creating songs that move people and performances that leave a lasting impression.

With “Giving You All” introducing another chapter in his musical journey and the Melodic Heart & Soul Tour continuing into 2027, Kenneith Perrin remains committed to the role that has defined him from his earliest days on stage—an entertainer who uses music to bring people together, cross generational boundaries, and ultimately sing songs for the soul.
