Miley Cyrus released “Bass Persuades,” the title track from her upcoming tenth studio album, on September 3, 2026, alongside a Mert Alas–directed music video that finds her turning a New York poker club into a dance floor. The song leans into eighties-inspired synths and a spoken-word opening verse, marking a noticeably more upbeat, dance-pop direction than her more recent work.
The album itself, also called Bass Persuades, arrives September 18 through Atlantic Records — Cyrus’s first project released under the mononym “Miley” rather than her full name. It follows 2025’s Something Beautiful and 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation, the album that produced her Grammy-winning single “Flowers.” In an Instagram post announcing the record, Cyrus described the title as capturing “heart full, heartache, every part of life in between,” and called the project a kind of love story reflecting her relationship with fiancé Maxx Morando alongside broader themes of self-love.
The album — reported at either 10 or 11 tracks depending on the source — features contributions from Model/Actriz and Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt, according to the tracklist shared on Spotify. Cyrus will also return to live performance with two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and 18 — a rare stage appearance for an artist who has largely stepped back from touring in recent years.
Early reaction to the single has drawn comparisons to Madonna’s “Me Against the Music” and Britney Spears–era pop, with critics noting the shift toward maximalist, choreography-driven pop after the more restrained sound of Something Beautiful.
