Dr Kanans Visvanats Founder of Zoar Limited was admitted as Honorary Member of Latvian Academy of Sciences for his profound contribution on research development and manufacturing Lifesaving Cancer drugs to emerging markets
Accepting the Honour Dr Visvanats commented : I am deeply humbled and profoundly honored to share a milestone that marks a defining moment in my journey as a scientist, researcher, and global healthcare advocate.I have been officially admitted as an Honorary Member of the prestigious Latvian Academy of Sciences (LZA). To make this moment even more surreal, my name has been permanently engraved on the commemorative plaque in the entrance lobby of the Academy of Sciences building in Riga. In the institution’s storied history spanning over a century, I am told that only nine other distinguished names have ever been printed on this plaque. To stand alongside these monumental figures of scientific history is a privilege beyond words.

This exceptional recognition is not just a personal milestone; it is a validation of our collective mission to democratize global healthcare. The Academy has bestowed this honor in recognition of our dedicated research and development of low-cost, accessible cancer medicines specifically designed for emerging markets. For years, my focus has been on breaking down the financial barriers of oncology treatments. Traditional cancer therapies often impose a devastating financial burden on families, particularly in developing economies. By leveraging targeted, natural extract-based therapeutics and securing 15 world patents for anti-cancer and anti-malarial treatments, our goal has been to deliver high-efficacy, low-toxicity alternatives that are affordable for those who need them most.Science loses its purpose if its breakthroughs are confined to the privileged.
True innovation lies in scalability and equity. This recognition further strengthens my deep-rooted bond with Latvia, a country that has graciously granted me citizenship and embraced my vision for academic and industrial synergy. Serving as a Council Member and Director at the Institute of Economics of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, and having previously received an Honorary Doctorate in Economics from the Senate, I am continuously inspired by Latvia’s forward-thinking scientific ecosystem.I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Senate and the leadership of the Latvian Academy of Sciences for this monumental honor. This plaque is a permanent reminder of the work that still lies ahead. We will continue to push the boundaries of pharmaceutical research, challenge the status quo of high-cost medicine, and ensure that life-saving healthcare is a basic human right, not a luxury.Thank you to my family, colleagues, and research partners across the globe who have walked this path with me. The journey continues. For More information www.dkv.world
